A fine Swedish Gustavian carved two-tone giltwood mirror signed with a by the master mirror maker Johan Åkerblad (1728-1799) and with the stamp of the Stockholm gilt (hallstämpel). Åkerblad was one of Sweden’s most prominent and prolific mirror maker, working mainly in the Rococo and Gustavian styles. The divided rectangular plate within a beaded and moulded frame surmounted by a large pierced cresting consisting of shell motifs, c-scrolls, ribbons and laurel swags. In superb condition, with the original faceted mirror glass and back with a nice patina.
