An attractive Austrian mid- 18th century baroque period quarter-striking bracket clock by the maker Andreas Hohenadl, Vienna. The ebonised fruitwood case with figurative brass carrying handle to the inverted bell top, arched glazed viewing apertures to the sides, on a stepped plinth base.

Silvered chapter ring and the matted brass centre is embellished with a mock pendulum and a date aperture above the VI. The clock is signed on a round silvered plaque in the arch, to the left with additional strike/silent indicator and to the right with a repition/non-repetition indicator. The clock has a 32 hour movement and strikes the quarter hours on a small bell and the full hour on a separate larger bell, pull repeat. The back-plate is lavishly engraved with scrollwork.
